Day Twenty Six
The end is near.
The original six split ways. We say our farewells. Two head north and four head west. Keep the shiny side up my friends.
We cross into our home state just east of Death Valley. We boldly continue our route right through the heart of Death Valley. At Badwater Basin, my air temperature gauge hits it’s limits around 125 degrees.
We keep going all the way through the beautiful valley, passing sand dunes and salt flats along the way. Death Valley becomes our sixth national park that we have the pleasure of riding through.
As we climb back out of Death Valley, we begin heading towards our stop for the night in Inyokern, CA. Jason and Megan kindly put us up and feed us a nice, home-grilled meal. We setup camp for the last time in the hardpacked sand of the eastern Sierra desert.
Tomorrow brings the final day to Kevin, Robert, George, Oliver, and Daniel’s cross-country saga. I’ll continue on to my new home in San Francisco, the following day.
